On behalf of the NTD community, the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases is excited that U.S. President Obama visited La General hospital during his recent trip to Accra, Ghana, and had the opportunity to see firsthand how health workers are treating women and children in the community with prenatal and after-birth care, and nutritional counseling.

Global Network Applauds Approval by Senate Appropriations Subcommittee of Funding to Help Eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases

The Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases applauded members of the Senate State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Subcommittees for increasing funding to end the neglect of disabling, devastating and deadly NTDs. The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee approved President Obama’s $70 million request and sends a clear message that Congress recognizes that these diseases can be eliminated, improving the lives of more than 1.4 billion people worldwide living on less than $1.25 a day.
